Welcome to On The Move East!
We believe that God is calling his church to
'Arise, shine
for your light has come'
(Isaiah 60). Ordinary
church members by the thousands have been out on mission using their
gifts and skills to serve and reach out to communities all across the
UK. As churches have joined together to meet the needs of those outside
our buildings God has stepped in and helped transform people's lives.
Imagine worship bands on your high street bringing the
sense of the presence of God among the people. Then picture someone
saying "can I invite you to a free BBQ?" At the same time the cooks have
set up tables, chairs, preparing the food. People will queue up enjoying
the festival atmosphere, the worship, the hospitality. In this relaxed
atmosphere table hosts welcome guests, pray for real needs, share their
stories of God's work in their lives. It is not unusual for several
people to commit their lives to Christ for the first time each day.
Recently we've adapted our On The Move to join in with
local Festivals like Flanders Fields World Cup Festival. Enabling local
churches to serve free food in Jesus name opens up tremendous
opportunities for conversations-"Why are you doing this!". On The Move
provides all the equipment, BBQ's, tables and chairs, insurance, and
helps recruit and train local Christians to go out with confidence in
the Lord to work.
What's next? We are happy to come and present the vision
to local church leaders; answer questions; explore possible locations;
and look at the costs. We do not charge for our time, only look to cover
the direct costs of the mission which varies according to how many
people we feed.
